چکیده

We obtain the (Shannon) optimal power and rate allocation strategies for the uplink on single cell systems. For an N user system, we show that successive decoding which is independent of channel state is optimal in the Shannon sense. Using this result, we frame the resource allocation problem as a simple convex problem in N variables. We divide the vectors space formed by all possible channel states (RN+ ) into regions, and obtain expressions for the optimum power and rate allocation strategies in each region as explicit functions of the channel state. This solution for User i is found to depend only on his channel and the channels of the users decoded before and after (termed Users i 1 and i + 1 respectively), and is shown to be an increasing (waterfilling) in User i’s channel gain and decreasing in the channel gains of Users i 1 and i+ 1.

Resource allocation for fading multiple-access channels with partial channel state information

Dynamic resource allocation based on the current channel state is a promising strategy to increase the capacity of wireless links. In this paper, the optimum accessing and resource allocation scheme for fading multiple–access channels with partial CSI at the transmitters are found. Partial knowledge of the fading states is a reasonable assumption for systems which provide a low rate feedback ch...

Bit Error Performance for Asynchronous Ds Cdma Systems Over Multipath Rayleigh Fading Channels (RESEARCH NOTE)

In recent years, there has been considerable interest in the use of CDMA in mobile communications. Bit error rate is one of the most important parameters in the evaluation of CDMA systems. In this paper, we develop a technique to find an accurate approximation to the probability of bit error for asynchronous direct–sequence code division multiple–access (DS/CDMA) systems by modeling the multipl...

Fast Algorithms for Resource Allocation in Cellular Networks

We consider a wireless cellular network where the channels from the base station to the n mobile users undergo flat fading. Spectral resources are to be divided among the users using time division multiple access (TDMA) in order to maximize total user utility. We show that this problem can be cast as a nonlinear convex optimization problem, and describe an O(n) algorithm to solve it. Computatio...

Cross-Layer Design for Dynamic Resource Allocation in Wireless Networks

In this paper, a novel analytical cross-layer design framework for dynamic resource management of wireless networks is proposed. First, dynamic bandwidth and time resource allocation policies for a single-user under fading channels that maximize capacity are derived. The analysis is then extended to multi-user environments, where the resource allocation is jointly optimized across both physical...
